Dass meine Fotos von damals, nach gut 17 Jahren, in Albanien gezeigt werden, hätte ich mir natürlich niemals vorgestellt. Ich freue mich sehr am Interesse für meine Fotos. Dieses Erlebnis zeigt mir auch, dass die Fotografie für mich nicht einfach ein kurzer Spass ist, sondern in meinem Leben schon viele Jahre eine Rolle gespielt hat. Ich sehe mich auch bestätigt, dass ich schon als junger Mensch die Fotografie als mein Ausdrucksmittel gewählt hatte.
Zu den Fotos habe ich für die Publikation einen Text beigesteuert.
… In retrospective, my photographs fail to break out of the clichés the West had about Albania. They reflect the view of a very young Swiss traveler, somewhat fascinated by the remains of a communist society. The picture of the old bus from my home-town Zurich, now serving in Albania, very strongly spoke about my feelings at that time. …
